Module 1: Maat
Teaching Presence & Embodied Leadership
Who am I becoming as a teacher?
Module Overview
A focused path from study to embodied practice.
Great teaching begins before the first cue. Maat asks you to examine the quality of your presence, the integrity of your choices, and the relationship you create with the people you serve.
You will experience Maat as a living ethical framework, then translate truth, balance, justice, harmony, order, reciprocity, and propriety into observable teaching and leadership practices.
What to Expect
Enter the practice
Experience a complete Maat-centered practice as a student before analyzing how it is taught.
Study ethical leadership
Explore how inherited beliefs, authority, language, and integrity shape the learning space.
Practice embodied presence
Teach with fewer performative cues and greater attention, authenticity, and responsiveness.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this module, you will be able to:
- Describe Maat as a living ethical framework for teaching and leadership.
- Distinguish teacher presence from teacher performance.
- Teach a short segment using minimal cues and authentic presence.
- Articulate a developing teaching philosophy grounded in observable commitments.
How You Complete It
Complete the assigned reading and reflection, participate in the signature practice observation and teaching labs, and submit your developing teaching philosophy and module evidence.
